Over almost 60 years of collecting, Rudolf Leopold, who died in 2010, acquired not only works by Egon Schiele, but also a constant stream of works by contemporary artists. Around 100 of them can be wondered at until January 2012 in the exhibition "The Excitement Continues. Contemporary art from the collection of Leopold II".

Paintings, drawings and a number of sculptures offer visitors an overview of Leopold's collecting activities. Entire blocks of work or significant individual pieces will be shown. Amongst the artists represented in the exhibition are Günter Brus, Bruno Gironcoli, Kiki Kogelnik, Maria Lassnig, Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Otto Muehl, Elke Krystufek, Robert Zeppel-Sperl and Erwin Wurm. Works by prominent international artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Mario Merz can also be seen.
