The show examines the question of the extent to which still life is an imitation of nature, something symbolic or a construct of reality. Around 100 works from five centuries can be seen. The oldest exhibits are the 16th century kitchen and market scenes by Pieter Aertsen.

The exhibition ranges from there to the 20th century and shows pictures by Jean Siméon Chardin, Francisco de Goya, Paul Cézanne, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. Works by contemporary artists (including Maria Lassnig and Zoe Leonard) can also be admired. A special area is dedicated to the so-called "Eat Art".
