The success of the famous burlesque star Dita von Teese has unleashed an international party trend . Burlesque is the name for a humorous, harmless striptease show. Burlesque clubs are booming, creating a furor on the Vienna nightlife scene. The parties center thematically on the years between 1920 and 1950.

Guests dress up elaborately: Charleston dresses are seen here just as often as revue costumes and petticoats. Men cut a good figure in rockabilly or dandy outfits. Elaborate make-up with porcelain coloring, long eyelashes, and bright red lipstick go without saying. In New Burlesque, there are also tattoos, piercing and fetish elements.

Musically, burlesque parties focus on music from the swing and rock'n'roll era. The highlight of the party is always the burlesque artists' show. The Viennese representatives of this genre go by names like Kitty Willenbruch, Tiga Lily, Miss Honolulu, Lady Lou or La veuve noire. Sometimes men take to the stage: for Boylesque.
